NSERC is the federal government’s lead funding agency for the support of science and engineering research and studies at Canada’s universities and colleges. NSERC researchers are the vanguard of science and engineering in Canada, continuing our country’s long tradition of excellence in both fields. The agency helps foster Innovation by encouraging Canadian companies to participate and invest in collaborative projects with academic researchers and their teams. It is also heavily invested in the promotion and funding of curiosity-driven ‘discovery’ research and in the support of Canada’s STEM students in their studies. Representing NSERC at this year’s Talent Summit is Mr. John Jackson. Working from a base in Mississauga, John serves as Acting Deputy Director for the agency’s Ontario Region. He has been with NSERC for nine years, having had previous career engagements at two major automotive companies as well as ten years served as marketing director for a Toronto-based international consulting engineering company. John holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Toronto and is a registered professional engineer in the province of Ontario.
