Biography

Tarek is the director of the entrepreneurship education programs at the faculty of Engineering & Architectural Science,  Ryerson University. In his role, Tarek is responsible for the curricular and extracurricular entrepreneurial activities at the faculty, specially the implementation of the undergrad specialization in entrepreneurship and the Masters of Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Tarek works closely with Ryerson Engineering students who are interested in starting their own businesses, helping them access different resources inside and outside Ryerson. Before this, Tarek was the Director of the Launch Zone at Ryerson University, the student and community focused space of the DMZ. Tarek took the lead in creating a collaborative, multidisciplinary space with robust entrepreneurship/ innovation programming for students wishing to engage in entrepreneurial learning and/or starting up their own ventures. Tarek received his PhD from McMaster University in establishing entrepreneurial ecosystems around Canadian universities. His interests include research about academic entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education, promoting entrepreneurial mindset among Canadian youth. Prior to that, Tarek was the Enterprise Development Manager at Xerox Centre for Engineering Entrepreneurship & Innovation (XCEEi) at McMaster University. Tarek also spent two years as a visiting scientist at Xerox Research Centre at Mississauga
